Zinc Finger Protein

Zinc Finger Proteins (ZFPs) comprise the largest family of transcription factors, characterized by finger-like DNA-binding domains. The zinc-finger domain is one of the most common DNA-binding motifs found in eukaryotic transcriptional regulators. The most prevalent types of zinc-finger domain proteins include C2H2 (e.g., ZNF217), RING (e.g., E3-ubiquitin ligase), PHD (e.g., KDM2A), and LIM (e.g., Lin-11, Isl-1, and Mec-3) types. ZFPs are capable of interacting with DNA, RNA, poly-ADP-ribose (PAR), and other proteins, thereby facilitating diverse roles in cellular functions such as cell differentiation, apoptosis, transcriptional regulation, metabolism, and immune responses.

ZFPs, including ZNF281, ZNF750, ZNF185, and ZBP89, are implicated in tumorigenesis, cancer progression, and metastasis formation, highlighting their significance in oncogenic processes[1].
